On that same day, he was called up to the England senior team for the August 17, 2005 friendly against Denmark. Bent continued scoring on a regular basis for Charlton and ended the 2005/2006 season with 18 goals. Unfortunately that was not enougn to earn him a place in the England squad that went to Germany this past summer.
